This is our 3rd house. Our first house (in Illinois) was a short, 50's ranch style home and we hung a single strand of lights along the gutter without any difficulty. Our second house (in Texas) was a 2-story brick house with a super high roof. We didn't have a super-large ladder, but had planned on borrowing one. Our first Christmas in the house, we measured the roofline (estimated!) and the walkway to the front door and purchased all of the lights, timers, clips & stakes on clearance after Christmas. We spent time in January switching the bulbs to alternating white/red. I had it all planned out! Our 2nd Christmas in the house, we did not have time to hang the lights immediately after Thanksgiving and realized that we would be going to a huge effort, only to be gone for 2 weeks at Christmas and not get to really enjoy them. So, we held off for another year. Well - we moved to Indiana this year. I finally got out all of those red/white brand new strands that were perfectly measured for our old house and hung them on our new house this year. We still don't have a tall enough ladder, so I just put them as high as we could reach! They don't fit perfectly and I had one strand left over, but we finally decorated the great outdoors for Christmas! Maybe by next year, we'll borrow or buy a big ladder and get them done right!

Love the lights! You guys crack me up. It's great to have friends far away to see what they do!
